Our team has created a technology that allows to reduce the porosity on injection pieces in aluminium alloys. This procedure allows the control of the porosity of the aluminium pieces and to improve their mechanical properties.
The smelting of aluminium alloys is highly susceptible to the absorption of hydrogen during fusion. The solubility of hydrogen within liquid aluminium is determined by the temperature and decreases rapidly with the solidification temperature. The hydrogen expelled from the liquid metal during the solidification promotes the generation of porosities. The contradiction between solidification of aluminium alloys aggravates this problem. Likewise, depending on the conditions of the process, the levels of porosity that can be detected in common foundries range from 0.5% to 3%.
